Heavy! Odysseus Lange Presents New Timepiece Concept

ODYSSEUS has written a new chapter for Lange and laid the foundation for the brand’s sixth watch series. Watchmakers from Saxony developed a self-winding movement specifically for the brand’s first conventionally produced steel timepiece. Equipped with the iconic large calendar and large date display.

Lange ODYSSEUS-expressive and sporty, precision and ingenious design

ODYSSEUS is a dynamic and elegant mechanical watch for those who are active, love outdoor life and advocating fine watchmaking. The design of the stainless steel case is remarkable, with a diameter of 40.5 mm and a thickness of 11.1 mm. It is combined with an integrated strap to reinterpret the traditional elements of the brand. In particular, the middle layer of the three-layer case is carved and slightly suspended, and its surface is polished with satin finish and the edges are decorated with chamfering. The lugs and stainless steel bracelet are also polished and chamfered. The case at 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock is equipped with tapered buttons, which are specially sealed to correct the date and day.

ODYSSEUS is Lange’s first precision mechanical watch with a waterproof case and a screw-in crown, which can withstand a water pressure of 12 bar.

New watch collection

Lange now has five watch series-LANGE 1, SAXONIA, 1815, RICHARD LANGE and ZEITWERK. The new masterpiece ODYSSEUS kicks off the sixth watch collection. As always, this watch has a unique design by Lange and is equipped with a newly developed movement.

Date and week display

The focus on the dark blue dial is the day and date display. The large Lange calendar display is set in a classic double window on the right side of the dial. The same week display as the left side of the dial complements each other. The straight line of the window frame matches the arc of the bezel. Both window displays use the traditional Lange glyph, especially the watch display with a blue background with white numbers and letters. The newly developed mechanism consists of 99 parts.

Stereo dial

The dial is made of brass and has a multi-layer design with different surfaces. Like the small seconds dial, the 18K white gold grooved bar-shaped scales are also decorated with the Azurage ring. They contrast with the grained surface of the main dial and the Fu dial. The beveled silver-colored outer ring is printed with a minute scale and surrounds the dial. The red number 60 at 12 o’clock adds a touch of color to the overall layout. ODYSSEUS features the brand’s classic willow-shaped hour and minute hands, which are more distinctive than other Lange watches. The pointer is the same as the inner surface of the rod-shaped setting scale, which is also luminous.

Adjustable stainless steel strap

The stainless steel strap is very comfortable to wear, and features a safe and reliable folding clasp for easy length adjustment, which can be extended up to 7 mm. Press the button embossed with the embossed Lange logo to push out or pull in the strap and adjust it to the desired length without opening the buckle during the process. If needed, the wearer can also add links to extend the strap.

Movement for a vibrant life

L155.1 DATOMATIC movement

Lange specially developed a new L155.1 DATOMATIC movement for ODYSSEUS. ‘DATOMATIC’ means the automatic date display mechanism. This name can be found on the rotor. This 32.9 mm diameter movement is suitable for the case size, and its operation can be appreciated through the sapphire crystal case back. The movement is equipped with a single up-center rotor, and its centrifugal block is made of platinum 950. The oscillating weight is exquisitely skeletonized so that people can appreciate the more hand-carved and delicately decorated details of the movement.

Brand new escapement

When fully wound, the main barrel provides a power reserve of up to 50 hours. To ensure that the watch is highly accurate and not affected by external factors, the new self-winding movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). The newly designed balance wheel has four countersunk head balance screws and a balance wheel. The edges are flush. This design reduces the shock generated by this high frequency watch. Cooperate with watch factory-made free-oscillation balance spring. Minimizing air resistance helps improve and ensure the speed accuracy and efficiency of the movement.

Replace the balance plate with bridge plate

ODYSSEUS’s oscillation system is fixed by a balance bridge with two fixed points, and it is decorated with a hand-carved wave pattern. Other decorations on the movement also reflect the concept of fusion of old and new. All frame components of the L155.1 DATOMATIC movement have been made in German silver. In addition, the elements of the rotor are black rhodium-plated. The entire movement is manually modified and reassembled, following the Lange philosophy. The screw-fastened gold sleeve is one of the other traditional elements of the Lange movement, used to secure the top-end jewel bearing of the escapement mandrel. The gold sleeve also marks the position of the escapement, adding traditional details to the ‘heart’ of the movement.

Top Build, Dewitt Presents Classic Calendar Watch

DeWitt’s newly presented classic series calendar watch, while paying tribute to its brand’s tenth anniversary, also marks a new starting point for Geneva watchmaking.
Although the appearance of this watch is almost the same as that of the ordinary classic series, it still retains the unique style of Dewitt, which makes people recognize the source at a glance.

DeWitt’s latest classic calendar watch

The case of this watch is much thinner than the previously introduced Academia and Twenty-8-Eight series, and has the iconic Dwight pattern. The 40mm rose gold case, with soft lugs and lines, embodies the subtle luxury of the watch.
Automatic winding movement, 42-hour power reserve, with hours, minutes and seconds function display, date display at 11 o’clock and 1 o’clock, mother-of-pearl moon phase display at 6 o’clock.
The dial is available in black and white, and the sun decoration skillfully combines the color and shape of the watch. The alternating light and shadow play a harmonious movement.
This new classic calendar watch has been built with the highest specifications in technology and materials since its inception, and strives to make every detail impeccable. From the sanding and polishing of the case to the decoration of the Geneva ornamentation, every detail shows the meticulousness and seriousness of DeWitt. Through the sapphire case, DeWitt’s signature “W” can be clearly seen in the groove of the rose gold crown.
